Episode 01

For Crafting “Made in Japan”

Proprietary opening is the secret to easy opening.
End mill story of supporting “Japan Quality”.

Why are Japanese cans easy to open?

When you want to quench your thirst or relax at the end of a long day, the sound of a can opening titillates the ears even before the beverage reaches your tongue. The first time that sound was produced in Japan was in 1965, when the first pull-top aluminum beer cans hit the market. Until then, the cans had been made with sturdy tin lids to withstand the internal pressure of the carbonated beverage, and these cans were normally opened with can openers, which led to various problems such as spillage. However, with the new pull-top cans which could be easily opened by hand, the market adopted them at once.
Japanese beverage cans have since evolved to become easier to drink and more friendly to the global environment by changing materials and shapes of cans with the times. An especially unique point is the quality of the drink openings. Many people have noticed how difficult it can be to open cans which are produced in other countries. The problem stems from the sealing and unsealing abilities of those cans. Japanese cans have high-level sealing properties that prevent them from bursting open when moved or dropped, as well as high-level unsealing properties that make them easy to open with the flick of a finger.
Strong yet easy to open-These contrasting aspects of performance are only possible with an NS TOOL technology for precise machining of the thickness of pull-top openings, etc. NS TOOL's end mills are chosen for the production of the molds that form the can openings.

Together with Japanese product essentials for living.

Japanese consumers are renowned worldwide as being particularly demanding. End mills contribute not only to cans, but to many parts of our days. The diaper, a product that must hug a baby's bottom, is a good example. Our tools are helpful in improving the precision of machines that cut diapers using roll-shaped molds known as a die-cut roll.
If you listen closely, your five senses will perceive various sounds that are engineered by our end mill such as: in the smooth opening and shutting of fasteners, the writing action of a ball-point pen, the clicked opening of a PET bottle…
